Each November schools around the world celebrate the importance of reading picture books.
This month at school…
…students may check out as many picture books as they can hold
…students will read as many picture books as they can (last year they read over 5,000!)
…students will track their reading using this form or the paper form sent home
…the library will hold events and activities to spark interest in picture books
…the library will post articles about the importance of picture books on its Facebook page (AISB ES Library)
…the library will post picture book reviews for each day’s “theme” (see calendar here)
This month at home…
…read picture books with your children!
...track the titles you read here or on the paper form sent home
…enjoy the laughs and the deep conversations that picture books can spark
…enjoy and talk about the artwork in the picture books your child brings home
…enjoy the one-on-one time with your child that sharing a picture book creates
